Plumber Notes: On arrival, spoke with the homeowner via the telephone, informed me that he was not home at his residence and would not be for some time. And then inspected the area where water was leaking up out of the ground and determined that the water main was compromised. Shut off the water at the main and proceeded to sod and dig up the area around the pipe. After inspecting the pipe, I found that the pipe had been pulled out over time from the three quarter inch PVC coupling from old tree roots around the pipe. There was also a minor crack on the pipe going into the second three quarter inch PVC coupling. I removed a roughly 3 ft section of the PVC pipe and converted the pipe over to CPVC. I installed a new section of 3/4-in CPVC. After allowing time for the sealant to adhere, then pressure tested the line for more than a half hour to ensure that the pipe would hold. No leaks were found and the pipe is now holding pressure. Per my conversation with the homeowner to protect the pipe from any further roots that may be in the ground, I wrapped the section that I repaired and insulation. I then recovered the pipe in dirt and place the sod back in its original positions. Job completed.
